hualong is pleased to announce that a GSS-1000 Optical Fiber Cable Water Penetration Testing Machine has completed its final inspection at our Shanghai workshop and is now ready for shipment to our customer in Greece.

The GSS-1000 Series Optical Fiber Cable Water Penetration Testing Machine is intended to establish the ability of a fiber optic cable to block water migration, in accordance with IEC-60794-1-2-F5. The test applies to continuously water-blocked cables, and its purpose is to determine the ability of a cable to block water migration along a specified length. Compliance is checked on samples of cable using one of two methods: method F5A tests for water migration between the outer interstices of the optical core and the outer sheath, whereas method F5B tests for water migration over the entire cross-section designed to be water-blocked. During the procedure the sample is supported horizontally and a 1 m height of water is applied for 24 h at a temperature of (20 ± 5) °C. A water-soluble fluorescent dye or other suitable coloring agent may be used to aid in the detection of water seepage.

• Water column height: φ80 mm Plexiglas tube, 1000 mm to the upper part of the outlet groove axis
• Water settings: 8 cables perform the water penetration test at the same time
• Outlet diameter: inner diameter φ30 mm
• Tank: stainless steel welded construction, with 8 bronze ball valves to control the water
